About Urbyte
Urbyte Pty Ltd (ACN 692 885 019 · ABN 54 692 885 019) ("Urbyte", "we", "us", "our") operates the Urbyte platform, including the website at urbyte.com.au and any associated applications or services. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
02
Founding Member Subscriptions
Founding Member subscriptions are monthly memberships that support the development of the Urbyte platform and grant access to early features, platform credits, and community benefits as outlined at the time of purchase.
- Subscriptions are billed monthly to the payment method provided at signup
- You may cancel at any time — no lock-in period applies
- Founding Member rates are locked in for the life of your active, uninterrupted subscription
- If a subscription lapses or is cancelled, the founding rate is forfeited and cannot be reinstated
- Urbyte reserves the right to change pricing for new subscribers at any time
Founding Members support Urbyte's mission to return value to everyday Australians — and in doing so, lock in the lowest rate available for as long as they remain active.
03
DBUs — Data Backed Units
DBUs (Data Backed Units) are Urbyte's internal rewards credits system. They are issued by Urbyte at our discretion and governed by the following conditions:
DBUs are rewards credits issued by Urbyte. They are not currency, financial products, securities, or investments. They carry no guaranteed monetary value and cannot be exchanged directly for cash.
- DBUs are issued based on self-reported mobile usage data submitted via your telco bill
- The standard conversion rate is 10 DBUs per GB of verified unused data
- DBUs may be redeemed for rewards, gift cards, or charitable donations as listed in the Urbyte platform at the time of redemption
- DBU redemption values and available rewards are subject to change at Urbyte's discretion
- DBUs have no expiry while your account remains active
- DBUs are non-transferable and cannot be sold, gifted, or traded between accounts
- DBUs are not redeemable for cash under any circumstances
- Urbyte does not guarantee the availability of any specific reward or redemption option
Founding Members receive an initial DBU allocation on signup as a signal of their early commitment. This allocation is part of the membership benefit and is subject to the same conditions above.
04
The 3-Cycle Verification Window
Full DBU value unlocks after 3 completed billing cycles. This window exists to protect members — it allows Urbyte to build an accurate picture of your genuine monthly unused data average before rewards are issued.
- A billing cycle is one calendar month from your subscription start date
- Members must submit bill data each month to receive DBU credits for that cycle
- Failure to submit bill data in a given cycle forfeits DBU credits for that cycle only
- Founding Members receive a signal activation on signup — partial credits may be accessible before the 3-cycle window closes, at Urbyte's discretion
05
Data & Privacy
Urbyte only collects the data necessary to operate the platform. This includes your name, email address, mobile plan details, and usage figures submitted via bill upload.
- Urbyte does not access your calls, messages, browsing history, or personal content
- All data is handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- Full details are available in our Privacy Policy
06
Accuracy of Usage Data
Urbyte relies on member-submitted bill data to calculate unused data and issue DBUs. By submitting usage data, you confirm it is accurate and reflects your genuine telco bill.
- Submitting false or misleading usage data constitutes a breach of these Terms
- Urbyte reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts where data misrepresentation is suspected
- DBUs issued on the basis of inaccurate data may be reversed
07
Charitable Donations
Members may elect to direct DBU value toward Urbyte's registered charity partners. Charitable donations facilitated through the platform are subject to the following:
- Donations are made in equivalent value, not cash, unless otherwise stated
- Charity partner availability is subject to change
- Urbyte does not guarantee tax deductibility of donations made via the platform — consult a registered tax agent for advice
08
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Urbyte is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of DBU value, failure of reward redemption, or service interruption.
Urbyte's total liability to any member shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by that member in the 3 months prior to the claim.
09
Changes to These Terms
Urbyte may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active members at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
